  • My Siamese Cat Likes To Bite When Playing Or Trying To Get Attention, How Teach Him To Stop?

Posted on February 8th, 2010 admin 8 comments

I wouldn’t suggest hitting them. Their bones are fragile. Everytime he does this put him down and don’t play with him. When he comes back to play ignore him. He will soon learn that he needs to quit biting.
He also may not realize how hard he is biting. He just wants to play so he’s getting excited.

    • Flick him on the nose, not too hard, but with a stern voice at the same time telling him “NO”. A squirt bottle works well too for most disciplines with cats, not too many like the water spray.

    • Never ever hit a cat. When a cat is biting get away from the cat and stop playing. The cat learns that it is doing inappropriate behavior and will stop..

    • A firm *NO* usually works. The sound of your voice showing displesure can go a long way. Cats can be disciplined but consistency is the key.

    • Please do not hit the cat!
      a) it doesn’t help
      b) it is even worse behavior than his biting…!
Just use a firm ‘No!’ he will learn eventually.
(also if he/she is young the neutering later on may solve this problem… if you plan on doing it)

    • Luv Thy Neighbour!

Hitting him with a fly squatter works great, you only have 2 hit him 1 or 2 times then when he sees it again : problem solved!

    • there is nothing wrong with that. my cat loves to bite when playing, when i rub his belly and when he is trying to get my attention and i dont mind. thats the way cats are, you cant really change that about them.

    • place cat in large blender flush result

    • One of my cats was terrible for this. Whenever she bit down on my hand, I used to grab a tooth and hold on for a few seconds. She hated it. It soon clicked in her that a tooth was grabbed at every bite session. She soon stopped.
She was never hurt, and it was a gentle way of reminding her. Now this cat is no longer a biter and has turned into a very gentle loving cat. Big softie she is. LOL!
