  • Who Knows A Lot About Cats And Their Illnesses?

Posted on January 11th, 2010 admin 3 comments

i have a blue russian / burmese mix that we have had now about 1 1/2 yr. he’s always been healthy. We got him from a shelter and they told us he was approximately 3 yrs old when we got him. But recently we moved and during the 3-4 days of moving the furniture and stuff we boarded him with our vet and got them to give him his shots and yearly check -up while there. Since he’s been home about a week, he has barely eaten anything. pooped even less, sniffling, and now his nose is draining mucous and he is acting a little weak

  • Looking For The “peta” Point Of View?

Many are members of PETA, and disagree with the owning of, or slavery of animals. I am just curious as to what your opinions are on a few things. I “own” 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 snakes. None of these animals were purchased by me. The first dog is two years old, my B*tch of a mother in law bought him from a designer dog show at the IX center when he was a 7 weeks old, she didn’t name him, purchase food or toys or anything for him other than a cage. She came home with him, put him in the cage and literally left him there for over 24 hours. I found him with no food or water, covered in his own feces. I screamed at her and informed her if she didn’t fix the situation, he was going home with me. I gave him a bath, clean his cage, bought food and gave him water. I found him in the same circumstances the next day and kept my word. Max has now been with me now for over 3 years. He is my baby, I would die for this little dog.
Next is my buddy, Jager. *yay-gur, like the alcohol* Before my husband and I were married, we lived in a not so nice neighborhood… the ghetto if you will. There was a house on the same block as ours, the people living there had 2 dogs, a female boxer and a male pitbull. They left them outside all the time, I never saw them give the dogs real dog food, only scraps. Both dogs drank from rain puddles and slept in the dirt. It was really heartbreaking. So eventually the female got pregnant and had a litter of 5 pups. The family also had 5 or 6 kids of their own. I saw the pups a week or so after they were born, they were adorable. When the pups were old enough the guy put an ad in the paper to sell 4 of them, they wanted to keep the one male. Unfortunatly their brat children killed 3 of them. I was outside with Max when I heard them playing and kicking around what I thought was a ball. I heard a squeel and some yelping, when I looked I wanted to cry. They were playing soccer, with an 8 week old pup as the ball. I ran at them, yelling all the way up the drive and scooped up the pup. The parents were not home so I called the police. I kept the pup that the children had been torturing, the same male pup they had wanted to keep. The city *THANK GOD* took the remaining pup and neighbors adopted the parents. Jager is now a year and a half old and a very good boy. He has ideopathic epilepsy, but is now on medication and has been seizure free for 5 months.
Next are our kitties. My husband and I moved to a new house, and live one street away from Lake Erie. Every nice day I take Jager out for a walk and we head down to the beach. One day, I saw a man walking quickly, he had a black garbage bag in hand. He walked through the gated entrance to the beach, tossed the bag into the dumpster and left just as quickly. My dog pooped on the way, I had a baggy to throw away as well. I flipped up the lid to the dumpest and heard desperate meowing. I immediately pulled the bag out and found 3 tiny kittens. One was already dead :( but I took the other two home with me. They are now about 6 months old, a female calico, Pretty. and an orange male, BooBoo.
My snakes are not a very interesting or heartwarming story. Before we were moving out of our old apartment, the apartment below us was vacant. One day we decided to go investigate and the people had left behind their pets. Mind you the people had been gone for over a month, and this was mid October so it was cold in there. Inside, we found 2 juvenile red tail boas and a 10 ft albino burmese python. None of them had a heat lamp. It’s kind of amazing to me that they didn’t freeze to death.
Basically what I am wondering, is since PETA does not believe that ANYONE should have pets, what should I have done? Left all the animals to die? Turn them loose so that they could die slowly of starvation, hypothermia or getting hit by a car???

  • Are Her Kittens Causing This?

Posted on January 9th, 2010 admin 2 comments

    Hiya.
My auntie has recently had 2 new kittens, they are 5 months old and they are burmese…The first time we went up when they were there my 2 1/2 year old got really breathless juts before we went…2nd time we stayed the weekend, and we ended up at the out of hours doctors with him on a nebulizer as he had been wheezing really badly…he was on steriods for 3 days and had a trip to the childrens a&e too
Anyways after 4 weeks of not going up we went up yesterday…the same has happened again altho hes not that bad and we have a blue inhaler and a spacer so we can get it into him.
Problem is…i dont know if its my auntys cats…its been well over 24 hours since he was with them and hes started up, but when we got home last night he had a cough….
Now will my aunties cats most likely be causing this, or is there something in the air?!
    thanks
