  • Trying To Decide Between Two Cat Names?

Posted on February 24th, 2010 admin 20 comments

I have a new cat and have two names I’m thinking of naming him. Either Apollo or Strider.
I like them for different reasons.
Apollo: Greek God of the sun, fits with the cat’s appearance, as he is a spotted bengal and has a glittery coat. But I’m not sure about the name because it has three syllables and I’m not sure if it would be too hard to say repeatedly, as well as for the cat to respond to.
Strider: Has two syllables, so it’s easier to say. But I don’t know the cat’s personality yet, so I don’t know if it would fit this name. Although it is the name of a person (in Lord of the Rings), so maybe that wouldn’t matter too much.
Which one do you prefer? If you had a cat with a longer name (more than two syllables) do you shorten it or wish it was shorter?

  • What Is The Difference Between Clipping A Puppy’s Ears Or Tail And Declawing A Kitten?

Posted on February 7th, 2010 admin 11 comments

I was raised on a ranch, I helped brand cows and castrate sheep. I just bought two Bengal kittens and while I understand that the procedure is brutal, I have an older cat that I had declawed and she never missed a beat, she dose everything she needs to do with her back claws. If declawing a kitten is so horrible and mean why do people clip some breeds of puppy’s ears or tails? How is that different? Any insight anyone might have on adjusting from a ranch girl to a city pet owner would be appreciated.

  • I’m Torn Between A Ragdoll/ragamuffin And A Devon Rex! I Can’t Choose!?

I want a cat that will lay down with me and comfort me when I’m feeling down. I don’t want it to aggravate me either like my sister’s cat does by nibbling my toes and refusing to leave, but not necessarily be aloof and independent. My mom is concerned about shedding, and I’ve read that both breeds shed relatively little. I’m more concerned about the personality of the cat itself. What are each like? Any habits or quirks of your precious kitties will be appreciated if shared. ^_^
