5 Month Old Siamese Cat (female) Keeps Hurting Our New 9 Wk Old Teacup Sized (female) Chihuahuah!?
Posted on January 29th, 2010 4 commentsI got a second cat a few months ago thats the same age as the Siamese girl and she STILL abuses her to this day and hurts her. I don’t think she will ever stop hurting our new Chihuahua- and this dog is only about 1.3 lbs! Any tips anyone?! I can’t even leave the house at this point!

My Dog Keeps Playing With The Cat – The Cat Is Very Tolerant But We Don’t Want Things To Go Too Far?
Posted on November 25th, 2009 5 commentsWe have 3 cats and a 4 month old Bichon Frise. Two of the cats want nothing to do with the dog and just stay out of the way, swat him if he tries to come near them. The other cat is a Ragdoll who has a high tolerance for pain and doesn’t react to much (she hates being brushed but I can grab her by the scruff and brush her without more than a scratch or two). The puppy loves charging at her, climbing on her etc which she doesn’t seem to either love or hate. He does start to go too far and start mouthing her, snapping at her, trying to bite her ears or grab her side if she squirms away which is all clearly not ok.
He likes to cut her off if she tries to escape and overall treats her the same way he would another puppy.
My husband and I disagree with how to best address this. He thinks the dog should not be allowed to interact at all with the cat. I think that we should wait until she protests his behavior, then back her up and reprimand/correct him.
I don’t think its prey drive – just playfulness and him not knowing when enough is enough. I don’t want to separate them and have the dog not ever know how to interact with the cat. His puppy exuberance makes it easy for him to get overexcited while playing but I know if he can learn how to get along well with the cat now, the better it will be.
Any links or knowledge or the breed that will help us decide the best way to correct this situation? I’m really looking for some backup for my point of view but will listen to sound advice that supports my husband as long as the the breed of the dog is taken into consideration (a Bichon does not have the same aggression/prey drive of a hunting breed). -
I Really Need A Cat Experts Advice… My Cat Is Very Sick And She Keeps Drooling?
Posted on November 13th, 2009 7 commentsMy cat had a terrible case of fleas and as a result she was cleaning herself a lot and then she began to throw up hairballs a lot. Because of her hairball problem her asophagus became very inflammed and she got a fever and then she began to cough up blood. We took her to the vet now she is on a lot of meds, they gave her a bath to get rid of her fleas, and they shaved all of her fur off. She just got back from the vet about 2 hours ago but now she is drooling non-stop. Why is she doing that?
Here is some additional information:
She is a ragdoll (a long-haired cat), 4.5 years old, and this is really the first time she has gotten sick. She has never had fleas before and we have never really needed to take her to the vet (besides her physical) before. We have had her for almost 4 years now. Also, she is an indoor cat but she goes outside once in a blue moon and we think that is how she got the fleas. -
My Siamese Cat Looks Cross-eyed And Keeps Running Into Things. Are Siamese Cats Supposed To Be Cross-eyed?
Posted on November 3rd, 2009 10 commentsThey should NOT be cross eyed, but many of them are. Poor breeding and purposful breeding for the cross eyes has led to this. I have one that is affected and one that isn’t. The one that isn’t seems to see better. There is nothing they can do to fix it, so just don’t rearrange the furniature!!!!!!
