Need Help From Those Who Have Had A Cat With Ocd!?
Posted on November 1st, 2009 3 commentsMy cat has developed an obsessive compulsive disorder and over grooms, causing bald spots and bloody scabs. She sucks on her skin and pulls out fur. She has been on anxiety tablets and these have helped a lot – on top it has cleared up perfectly, however underneath on her belly and sides she has started up licking and sucking and has caused havoc.
My question. Have any of you with cats that have experienced a similar problem, has the cat eventually healed and the behavioural problem gone away?
Do you think she needs stronger anxiety tablets until she is all cleared up and her fur grows back?
*I believe her over grooming/OCD began when she had a flea infection, and even though the fleas are gone & have been treated, the behavior still remains.
* She is half Burmese and I read on the net that Oriental breeds can be a bit nutty!!
Thanks so much. Any advice is welcome. I am seeing a Vet, just wanted some advice from cat owners with a similar experience. -

Posted on October 2nd, 2009 3 commentsThat up and coming breed that is large and exotic, and according to the breeder I met at a pet market today has Chinese Leopard Cat in the mix. If the info I’m going on is current, I think it’s only in it’s 4th/5th generation of being domesticated, but she swore they are great pets whereas I can swear I’ve heard otherwise about all the exotic cat “breeds”
So what’s the truth? I’d preffer answers to be from personal experience and not what you’ve researched on the web, because most of what you read is mostly opinion passed as fact. They say that they would damage the furniture and draps in our house. are there any methods in preventing a ragdoll cat from scratching things?…..im thinking of declawing but i no that that is inhumane, but i have no other choice beacuse i really want a cat..
any ideas?
